The position of Welder/Fitter includes, but is not limited to production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding. The Welder/Fitter will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous and overall improvements in production. Additionally the Welder/Fitter will be required to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.

Job Description

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Maintain safe work practices

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience as welder/fitter
  • Valid welding certification, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong commitment to the performance of quality work
  • Strong analytical and communications skills
  • Well organized, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, self-motivated & results oriented
  • Positive attitude is a must
